Kendo, “the way of the sword,” is the art of Japanese fencing. Kendo is not strictly regarded as a Japanese martial art anymore. Today, Kendo has developed into an international sport that teaches not only skillful use of the sword, but mental and physical self-control and self development. Kendo also emphasizes honesty, integrity, and patience. As a non-profit organization, its sole purpose is to pass down the history, philosophy, and skills of Kendo to future generations. Their instructors are all volunteers whose reward and gratification is attained by assisting each student to grow in their proficiency of Kendo as they grasp a deeper understanding of the art.
