About Us
Our ikebana classes at the GVJCI offers students a unique opportunity to learn the traditional Japanese art of flower arrangement from an accomplished instructor. Led by Valeria Brinkers, who graduated from the prestigious Kado Sangetsu Ryu Ikebana School in 1993 and served as the former president of Ikebana International Los Angeles.
These monthly sessions provide authentic instruction in this ancient practice. Meeting every fourth Saturday of the month at 2:00 pm, the classes focus on teaching the fundamental principles of ikebana, guiding students through the essential techniques and philosophical foundations that underpin this meditative art form.
Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to deepen your understanding, these classes offer a structured yet creative environment to explore the harmony between nature, space, and artistic expression that defines ikebana.
We charge a material fee of $40 per class and the student will need an ikebana kit (vase, large kenzan, scissors, a hand towel, etc)
