About the GVJCI Car Show
Gardena has a thriving car culture with people having not only the well-known American muscle cars, but also modified foreign makes such as the Datsun 510s, 240zs, Subaru, Honda and Toyota Celicas. With a mix of today’s versions of these cars and others, we would like to bring back fond memories of yesteryear and show how this car culture continues today.
In addition to the cars, we also have games for the kids, an indoor vendor area and Okamoto Kitchen food truck.

Did you know about MOONEYES and Nissan? MOONEYES machinist, racer, builder, and multiple land-speed record holder Fred Larsen built the engine in the Nissan R381 that won the 1968 Nippon Grand Prix.
Special Screening at 11am
We are excited to have the support of Mooneyes Moon Equipment Co. We will be screening the Mooneyes documentary “Craft of Speed,” a Ming Lai Film, at 11 am – 1 pm.
For 30 years, Shige Suganuma and Chico Kodama, two Japanese/Japanese American hot rodders, helped save Moon Equipment Company, an iconic American speed parts company, rebrand it as Mooneyes, preserve the legacy of legendary founder Dean Moon, and popularize hot rod culture in Asia. Now, Shige is attempting to grow hot rod culture despite declining interest in hot rods.
A major focus of the film follows Chico Kodama handcrafting a custom roadster and chasing the land speed records at the Bonneville Salt Flats.
